PC Software Instructions

teleprompter software

Learn how to use it with our easy guide

1. Load the software, you will see the Gettysburg Address as the default text. You can keep this text, or replace it with your own. It's easy to transfer your speech from another document, simply Copy & Paste by selecting the text from your other document and pressing CTLR+C then highlight the text in the teleprompter software you want to place, and press CTLR+V.

2. If you are using a mirror on top of your monitor to flip your text, select Horizontal Flip or Vertical Flip. They are the same thing only the text scrolls in a different direction. This is useful so that you can orient your computer monitor or laptop either way you choose, without having to turn it 180 degrees.

3. Take your mouse and position it in the lower right hand corner of the program so that you see the mouse change into the diagonal resize cursor: Drag the program to make it wider until it's the appropriate size you want for your text. In doing this, you are setting how much text can fit on the screen once the text starts scrolling.

4. Set the text size. You will need to experiment with the size by running the program a few times first

5. Scroll speed does not need to be set before the program starts, because you can easily control it while it's running. However, most people prefer the speed to start at "10" because that's the fastest it can run with totally smooth scrolling. If you find that "10" isn't fast enough, press the "y" key several times once the program is scrolling.

6. Line spacing can be set to single or 1.5 if you want the text closer together. Note that this effectively makes you have to read the text much faster, so you may want to set a slower initial speed. You can customize the spacing between lines with the "exactly" option.

7. Background color is black by default and font color is while by default. These are the standard settings for commercial teleprompters.

8. Generally you will want to keep the text centered box checked, that way when you read your text your eyes are not focused mainly at the left hand side of your screen.

9. You are now ready to press the Start button and begin delivering your speech. We recommend that you don't use the full screen option until you have gotten a feel for how the program does margins by fitting the text to the window.
